The Bible, Inspiration, and Innerancy

Graphic.OpenBible.16x9As a devout Christian, I believe that the Bible is both the inspired and inerrant Word of God. Inspiration can be summarized by the belief that the Scriptures were penned by inspired men of God, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This inspiration involved the inspiration of the personality of each author of the Bible, as well as the inspiration of words. All of these results in an inspired text (Towns, 2008, pg. 60). Innerancy can be summarized as “the Bible in its original autographs and correctly interpreted is entirely true, never false in all it affirms, whether that relates to doctrine or ethics or to the social, physical, or life sciences” (Elwell, 2001, pg.156).
